Winston Churchull and the Great Republic
What was Churchill's ideology and how did it affect his and Great Britain's involvement in WWII. Specifically, how did Churchill direct the British people during this turbulent time?
-----------------------------------
Winston Churchill took a lot of his personal ideas from his ancestor, the Baron of Marlborough. He was firmly against the Anti-Semitism of the Nazi Party. Before he was even Prime Minister, he sent a letter asking the United States to get involved with European affairs to stop a war before it even started. After the election of Churchill and the fall of France, Churchill made a speech urging the British people to not lose hope, and to defend their country. Churchill feared that if Britain fell, that the world would sink into a new Dark Age ruled by the evil of the Nazis. Once the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor in 1941 and Germany declared war on the US, Churchill was eager for the British to fight alongside the American soldiers. Churchill and Roosevelt forged a lasting relationship between the British and American peoples.
